On air Carrier Wave

Independent radio, still on air.

No algorithm. No ad breaks worth skipping. Ninety‑six hours a week of hand‑picked sound from a back room with good speakers and worse coffee.

The week

Seven days,
ninety‑six hours live.

Everything outside these blocks is the Carrier Wave — our overnight automation, chosen by a very tired committee of one. The lit cell is on air right now.

Residents

The people
behind the desk.

Six residents hold the week down. No playlists handed from above — each one builds their hours by hand and answers for every track.

The sound

A signal is a promise
that someone is listening.

We started in 2009 with a transmitter the size of a shoebox and a licence we still can't quite believe they granted.

Frequenz runs on membership, not advertising. That means the person choosing the next record answers to you and to their own ears — nobody else. When a show ends, the host stays to reply to the request line by hand.

We think radio is the last warm medium: one signal, going out to everyone at once, made by a human who could be wrong. We'd rather be occasionally wrong and always alive than smooth and forgettable.

The request line

Ask for something.

The line is open while a resident is on air. Song, shout‑out, or a mood you can't name — a real person reads every one. We can't promise to play it, but we promise to consider it seriously and then judge you gently.
